Here at the Swindon Orthodontic Centre we know that teenagers can be incredibly self-conscious – we’ve all been there!  Having crooked, overcrowded or mis-aligned teeth is extremely common whilst children are growing.  Dental problems like these can make eating and speaking difficult and will most definitely affect your child’s confidence at some point.  Beautiful teeth are an asset to be proud of!

Fixed metal braces are the most common type of orthodontic appliance.  Advancements in orthodontic technology do allow for a more comfortable treatment experience, but some teens are put off at the thought of wearing a noticeable metal brace.

There is an option for treatment that will give amazing results and cause little disruption to your child’s day-to-day life. Invisalign has specially developed a tooth straightening treatment with older children and teenage patients in mind.

The Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom-made clear ‘invisible’ trays, called aligners. These virtually invisible aligners are made from clear plastic and look like thin sports mouthguards. Custom-made to fit your teeth and gums, these removable aligners are changed every two weeks and gradually straighten your teeth.

Invisalign aligners will move your teeth into the desired position, and can treat conditions such as crooked teeth, gaps between teeth, overcrowding and crossbites.

The huge advantage of the Invisalign treatment is that the aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, brushing, flossing, playing sports and special occasions!  Invisalign aligners should be worn for a minimum of 22 out of 24 hours but as they can be taken out, they will fit in perfectly with your child’s busy life.

If you are considering Invisalign for your child, you might like to know that the aligners are custom made and consider the growth and development of teeth and jaws whilst your child is growing. The aligners are designed to cope with the eruption of canines, molars and second premolars and in many cases the Invisalign treatment can move teeth without the need of extractions.
